TEXT 20 Wege zu einer modernen Klima- und Energiepolitik Die Umwelt gibt uns Lebensgrundlagen und Rohstoffe. Wir müssen sie pflegen und erhalten. Bei der Klima und Energiepolitik geht es um Fragen wie zum Beispiel: Wo und wie nutzt der Mensch die Natur? Und wo zerstört er sie dauerhaft –manchmal sogar, ohne es zu wissen? Oft geht es dabei um das Verhältnis von Klima- und Naturschutz und Wirtschaftlichkeit. Klimapolitik ist kein statischer Prozess. Schon seit Jahren verfolgt Deutschland einen Weg, der Klima- und Umweltschutz nachhaltig und wirtschaftlich zusammenführt. Der Schlüssel dazu ist die Steigerung der Energie- und Ressourceneffizienz sowie der Ausbau erneuerbarer Energien und nachwachsender Rohstoffe. Zahlreiche unterschiedliche Interessensgruppen sind an dem Prozess beteiligt. Fossile Energiequellen wie Erdgas, Kohle und Erdöl sind endliche Ressourcen. Bei ihrer Nutzung führen sie zu hohen CO2-Emissionen führen. Die erneuerbaren Energien basieren auf der Nutzung von regenerativen Ressourcen. Sie stehen somit praktisch unendlich zur Verfügung. Bei ihrer Nutzung gibt es kein unkalkulierbares Gefahrenpotenzial und kein Endlagerproblem wie z. B. bei der Nutzung von Atomkraft. Zu den erneuerbaren Energien gehören Sonnenenergie, Wasserkraft, Wind, Erdwärme und Biomasse (aus nachwachsenden Rohstoffen). Im Jahr 2050 soll der Strom in Deutschland zu 80 Prozent aus erneuerbaren Energiequellen kommen.
