Here are some instructions about how to use the LockDown Browser when you will be taking your Exams. Please read them carefully. Ensure you're in a location where you won't be interrupted No one else may be in the room while you are taking the exam. We recommend putting a “do not disturb” sign on your door You may not leave the room while you take the exam, so make sure to go to the bathroom before the exam begins Turn off all other devices (e.g. tablets, phones, second computers) and place them outside of your reach Clear your desk or workspace of all external materials not permitted You may have one double-sided sheet of notes You may also have a box of tissues You may not have pens, pencils, cellphones, smartwatches, headphones, earbuds, etc. Remain at your computer for the duration of the exam If you have a runny nose, make sure you have a box of tissues within reach We recommend that you not eat or drink anything while taking the exams (unless this is specifically allowed by an official accommodation from the Student Disability Center). This is a recommendation, not a requirement. However, eating or drinking might trigger a warning message from the software. To produce a good webcam video, do the following: Avoid wearing baseball caps or hats with brims Ensure your computer or device is on a firm surface (a desk or table). Do NOT have the computer on your lap, a bed, or other surface where the device (or you) are likely to move If using a built-in webcam, avoid readjusting the tilt of the screen after the webcam setup is complete Take the exam in a well-lit room, but avoid backlighting (such as sitting with your back to a window) Remember that LockDown Browser will prevent you from accessing any other web pages or applications; you will be unable to exit the exam until all questions are completed and submitted Once you finish reading these instructions, go ahead and provide your confirmation that you have read them.
