Take a look at Text 20 again and answer the following questions:  Your first impression: What kind of text do you think this is? a factual text addressing climate and energy issues. True minutes from a meeting about energy and climate change. False a description of a chart that describes environmental and climate hazards. False a discussion paper on how people plan to take care of the environment. False  How did you arrive at your answer? I used the headline is an indicator.  According to the headline of Text 20 what issues are addressed? environmental damages False climate policy True air pollution False energy policy True economic challenges False Before we look at some of the vocabulary and at more details of the text can you determine from your first impression where to locate the following statements in Text 20? Indicate the paragraph. Paragraph: 3 Fossil energy sources are limited and cause high CO2 emissions. Paragraph: 2 The relation of climate and environment protection and economic efficiency come into play in the context of climate and energy policies debate. Paragraph: 3 Germany pursues a climate policy that brings together climate and environmental protection in a sustainable and economic way. Paragraph 1 We have to take care and sustain the basis of our living. Paragraph 3 Renewable energy comes from regenerative resources, is unlimited and does not cause incalculable problems. Paragraph 3 Many interest groups participate in Germany’s climate policy.

Step-by-Step Analysis
Start by noting that Text 20 discusses Germany's climate and energy policy, the role of renewables, fossil fuels, and the involvement of various interest groups. The task presents a series of true/false statements, followed by a meta-commentary response, and then a set of paragraph-location and numbering questions. I will address each item in the order given, explaining why each conclusion is correct or incorrect based on the text. 1) Answer: True Reasoning: The statement asserts that there is a factual text addressing climate and energy issues. The provided text (Text 20) clearly presents an explanatory, informational discussion about climate policy, energy sources, renewables, and policy goals, which fits the description of a factual text. 2) Answer: False Reasoning: The second option claims the text is minutes from a meeting about energy and climate change. There is no indication of meeting notes, dialogue, or a record of discussion; instead, the text reads as an overview or expository passage. Therefore, describing it as meeting minutes would be inaccurate. 3) Answer: False Reasoning: The third option describes the text as a description of a chart that outlines environmental and climate hazards. The passage does not present or describe a chart; it discusses policy concepts, energy sources, and goals in prose. Hence this characterization is incorrect. 4) Answer: False Reasoning: The fourth option says it is a discussion paper on how people plan to take care of the environment. While the text touches on environmental protection and sustainability, it is framed as an informational piece about policy direction rather than a discussion paper focused on plans of individuals or groups. The wording is not aligned with a typical “discussion paper” format. 5) Answer: I used the headline is an indicator. Reasoning: The meta-commentary line notes that the headline serves as an indicator. This is a reasonable approach: headlines often guide initial interpretation of a text’s topic,......Login to view full explanation
