PHYS_V 170 ALL 2024W2 Mandatory Academic Honesty Quiz
Single choice
First, be sure that you have read and understood the University's general statement on Academic Honesty and Standards as well as the information on Discipline for Academic Misconduct (both from the Academic Calendar). Second, there are three types of work that you will be completing this term: Homework Assignments (Mastering Engineering) Tutorials Exams (March Exam and Final Exam) One extremely important rule that applies to all three types of work is as follows: You may not consult any resource, online or hardcopy, that provides a partial or complete solution to any assigned problem (homework, tutorial, exam) that you are solving. This includes solution manuals as well as any other person. It also includes Generative Artificial Intelligence systems such as CHAT-GPT. You can use such systems as enhanced web-browsing facilities, but you can NOT use them to solve, in whole or in part, specific problems that you are assigned. Third, the specific rules regarding Academic Honesty for each type of work are as follows: Homework Assignments: You are allowed to consult your text, your notes and lecture notes posted to Canvas. You can also discuss your work with your fellow students so long as the calculations that you ultimately do to complete the assignment are your own. Finally, you can discuss your work with your instructor and/or the TAs. Tutorials: The rules here are the same as for Homework Assignments, with the following modifications. You can discuss the solution of tutorial problems with your fellow tutorial group members, as well as with the TAs. You may not discuss your tutorial work with members of any other group. Exams: Not surprisingly, the rules here are most stringent. For in-person exams you may consult only your one-page double-sided formula sheet. You may use a graphing and/or scientific calculator to perform calculations. I have read the above carefully and pledge to follow the rules concerning Academic Honesty laid out therein for the duration of the course.
